Xiaomi’s HyperOS: Coming to a Phone Near You in December 2023! Check Out the List!

Xiaomi has decided to enter a new era by replacing the popular MiUI version with the new HyperOS platform, which was announced in October. Many people have been excited and eager to see how Xiaomi plans to revamp the user interface of the new version and whether the features will make it more intuitive and smooth than MiUi. We’ve yet to hear about a wider rollout of Xiaomi’s HyperOS, but more phones will indeed get the new platform in December of this year.

As you can see here, the list includes mostly phones launched in China, except for the Xiaomi 12 Pro and some Redmi K-series phones that come as rebranded Poco phones.

We still don’t know if Xiaomi phones coming to India will get a new version or if MiUi itself will continue to use the custom UI. Other brands have also followed a dual interface strategy that allows them to serve non-Google and Google-backed markets.

For example, Vivo offers OriginOS in China, while in India it offers the Funtouch operating system on Vivo phones that are launched in the country. Likewise, OnePlus has offered HydrogenOS for several years in China, while sticking with OxygenOS for devices sold in India and global markets.

Xiaomi HyperOS version: what it offers

As we hoped, Xiaomi claims that HyperOS includes faster boot times and keeps apps in the background for longer. You’ll also get a taste of the new AI feature that lets you create images and select text from photos.

Xiaomi is also deepening cross-product integration with the operating system, which is likely to be offered in other ecosystem products. For example, Xiaomi says you can use the rear camera of a Xiaomi phone as a webcam on a Xiaomi laptop. There’s also support for features like Dynamic Island, which hints at exciting things to come in the near future.
